WEATHER DISCUSSION

Aside from a few high clouds Tuesday, we saw abundant sunshine.  Temperatures began on a chilly note, with mid-teens in the Klamath Basin and 20’s and 30’s elsewhere.  We will be equally chilly Wednesday morning, but the afternoon hours will hold slightly warmer temperatures.  Along the coast, a FROST ADVISORY will go into effect for Del Norte County early Wednesday morning.  Be sure to bring inside or cover any sensitive plants you may have.

High pressure is now starting to build into the Northwest, which will bring us a quiet and mild week.  Sunshine will dominate, and highs will be above average heading into the weekend.  In the Rogue Valley, highs are projected to be in the lower 70’s during the weekend.  Those values aren’t enough to break records, but they are still over ten degrees above average for this time of the year.

Within the next 7 days, there is no chance of rain on the horizon.  However, by a week from Wednesday, a series of storm systems may be strong enough to break down the ridge that’s currently in place.  Of course, over a week in advance is plenty of time for adjustments to be made to the timing, strength, and trajectory of the storms’ path, but being as we so badly need the rain and snow, we will be watching subsequent model runs very closely.
